Back to School

It's less than a week until Monkey goes back to school, or more importantly, goes to a new school! She's taking that all important step into her Pre-School year. She'll be learning the final elements of her pre-reading & writing skills and of course, I'll be helping her at home, too.

As a Parent, Usborne books are invaluable in this area. Here are just a few useful titles for this time of year.

All children love stickers and this book is a fun introduction to the first days at school. It costs just £4.99/6.80 euro.

This one is available as a paperback for £3.99/5.40 euro or in a mini edition (ideal for handbags/school bags) for just £2.50/3.50 euro. It's part of a series of First Experiences including Going to the Doctor/Hospital/Dentist, Going on a Plane and New Puppy/Baby.

One method of teaching children to read & write, utilises Phonics - Usborne has a full range of titles to support this teaching method - for parents and teachers.

The latest are these 4 workbooks which form part of the Very First Reading range - I introduced you to the box set of fifteen titles, ideal for learning to read, in an earlier blog here.

These 4 Phonics workbooks are £4.99/6.80 euro each but don't forget, teachers, you can get lovely discounts for bulk orders; just ask me how

NEW - Usborne for English Learners

The Usborne seven stage reading programme is one of my favourite ranges. Once your child can read, this range opens up a whole world of fiction and non-fiction titles.

Last month the publishers launched Usborne English. This is a selection of the titles from the reading programme offering extra support to learners & teachers of English.

The titles are available at four different levels; Elementary, Lower Intermediate, Intermediate and Upper Intermediate. Each book includes an audio CD to help students develop listening & speaking skills. The CD includes full readings of the text by native speakers in both British English and American English.

The series is also supported by a dedicated website where worksheets & teacher's notes can be downloaded.

As an Usborne Organiser based in the EU, this range is SO EXCITING for me and my customers. So many students are blessed with excellent English language teachers but not all of them are native speakers, this range allows those teachers to give their students a little boost.

If you would like to order a title from this range, or any other Usborne title, please do contact me direct

I'd especially love to hear from you if you are an English Language Teacher,  I can offer your school FREE* books in exchange for a little space, time & advertising. Just invite me to sell Usborne Books to the teachers, parents and students at your school and in return I will donate a percentage of my sales to the school in Usborne Books.

*NB FREE books are offered subject to easily achieved minimum sales.

My New Recruit!

A few weeks ago, I was delighted to welcome a new member to my Usborne Team in Finland. I went to her first party in Tampere, where she's based, and she did a wonderful job! As well as hosting a great party in her apartment, she was the hostess with the most(ess) including making a FABULOUS cake AND best of all her guests had a whale of a time.
Edible Usborne Book!

...complete with a bookworm!
Of course the aim of the evening was to sell books. She gave a very clear presentation, with lots of interesting information and even roped in her children to talk about their favourite books (what a lovely idea).

All the guests were impressed with the books (who wouldn't be?!?) and they all took their time to ask lots of questions and make their choices. Even the children were all working their way through the catalogues, picking out their favourites. After I was back in Turku, she confirmed just how good the sales were - and they were great! She earned enough in her first party to complete her Flying Start stage 1 incentive - a whole new box of FREE books worth over £35! I'm so delighted for her! What a wonderful start to her new business!

It's so simple and so much fun starting your own business selling Usborne Books - why not get in touch and ask me how?
